Bolii at the Herbivorous Acres Haus of Love Fashion Show Benefit!

Katie Bolin

I am super excited to announce that Bolii will be part of the very first EVER Haus of Love fashion show on June 13. It's a fundraiser for Minneapolis vegan butcher shop The Herbivorous Butcher. Their new non-profit, Herbivorous Acres, is raising money to build an animal sanctuary/farm an hour outside of Minneapolis, where they can rescue abused and neglected animals, promote a plant-based lifestyle, offer classes, build tiny homes for lil eco-vacation trips, and more!

I jumped at the chance to make and donate custom designs for this show. It's one of my favorite days when I get a custom order and get the chance to design something brand new. I went with a vegan theme, because I wanted to make something that combatted the stereotype that vegans are aggressive or in your face about their lifestyles. So, I made this smiley face crop top (below) that says "Very Happy Vegan," as well as another vegan tee and a dress.

Obsessed with the smiley face paint cutouts. Definitely want to incorporate this into future designs.

If this is up your alley, RSVP to the event on Facebook—it will be at Bauhaus Brew Labs in northeast Minneapolis on June 13. This is my first official fashion show for Bolii, so I am super super excited that it's for a good cause.

ALSO: Keep your eyes peeled this summer for Bolii pop up shops around the Twin Cities this summer :)

LOVE U

Bolii Featured in Minnesota Monthly Magazine!!

Katie Bolin

I'm VERY excited to be included on this list by Minnesota Monthly Magazine of Minnesota brands who donate to social causes. Starting this year, I chose to donate $5 of each sale to Planned Parenthood—you can read more about why I chose Planned Parenthood here

Even though we may be going through some turbulent times politically and socially as a country, it's important to channel the lemons-into-lemonade ideology (thanks, Bey!). If funding is being threatened to any cause you believe is important, there are always ways you can offset the bad. Whether that's holding something simple and warmhearted like a bake sale and donating the money, attending a protest to voice your concern, or dedicating a portion of your paycheck each month—there's always something you can do to help that will make a difference. You are important and your ideas matter.

XOXO Katie

I'm donating $5 from each sale to Planned Parenthood

Katie Bolin

What. A. Week! While Resident Log Bump is off signing literally the worst executive orders this planet has seen since WWII, I'm trying to find ways to help out regardless of this national tragedy. That's why $5 from each sale will be donated at the end of each month to Planned Parenthood.

Why I'm Donating to Planned Parenthood

If you're a woman, there's a HUGE chance you've been to Planned Parenthood. Whether it was to get birth control, the morning after pill, or an STD check, it's a crucial place for women who don't have access to similar care otherwise. When I went to Planned Parenthood for the first time to get birth control, I was in my mid-twenties, going back to school and working paycheck to paycheck at ***4*** part-time jobs. I also didn't have health insurance at the time because Obamacare didn't exist yet. But Planned Parenthood was a real sista and helped me out with an exam, a check-up, and getting on the pill—for free.

Now that I can afford to pay for health insurance myself and have access to it as a self-employed business gal (Thanks Obama, really), I've been making sure to donate to them whenever I get a chance. I believe so much in the power of women and helping them make their own choices about their reproductive health. This is our fight as half of the world's population. Not 10%. Not 35%. 50% of the ENTIRE WORLD IS US. We deserve respect and the freedom to make our own choices, and I will not stop fighting for us no matter what. — Katie
